{"id":1673,"date":"2015-03-12T22:32:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-12T11:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/foxbatpilot.com\/?p=1673"},"modified":"2015-03-12T22:32:00","modified_gmt":"2015-03-12T11:32:00","slug":"rotax-engines-3-waterless-coolant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/foxbatpilot.com\/?p=1673","title":{"rendered":"Rotax engines (3) waterless coolant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxbatpilot.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/03\/rotax-2013-cylinder-heads.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1690\" src=\"https:\/\/foxbatpilot.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/03\/rotax-2013-cylinder-heads.jpg?w=627\" alt=\"Rotax 2013 cylinder heads\" width=\"396\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/foxbatpilot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/rotax-2013-cylinder-heads.jpg 1163w, https:\/\/foxbatpilot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/rotax-2013-cylinder-heads-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/foxbatpilot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/rotax-2013-cylinder-heads-1024x573.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/foxbatpilot.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/rotax-2013-cylinder-heads-768x430.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 396px) 100vw, 396px\" \/><\/a>In 2013, Rotax introduced (without much of a fanfare) a new design of cylinder head for their 912 carburettor series engines.\u00a0These cylinder heads have been\u00a0fitted to all new engines since then and may be retrofitted to earlier engines.<\/p>\n<p>Having received a couple of queries from owners whose engines incorporate the new heads, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><em>it is important to understand that you cannot\u00a0use waterless coolant in conjunction with these heads<\/em><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition it&#8217;s worth noting\u00a0the following:<br \/>\n&#8211; the new heads are similar to <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><em>but not the same as<\/em><\/span> those fitted to the 912iS fuel injection engine. If you have to replace cylinder heads, make sure you get the right ones.<br \/>\n&#8211; the CHT\u00a0sensor is in a new location<br \/>\n&#8211; what was the CHT\u00a0sensor now measures coolant temperature not cylinder head temperature.
