Thankfully, no-one has needed to deploy a\u00a0BRS on an Australia Foxbat.<\/p>\n<p>However, the pilot of this <a title=\"Cirrus YuoTube video\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DX-QUVen9Ng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cirrus<\/a> was not so lucky, although due to the BRS, he and his passengers all walked away from what otherwise might have been a nasty incident.<\/p>\n<p>It was around 2pm on Saturday afternoon, 10 December 2014 at <a title=\"Google Maps - Lawson NSW\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com.au\/maps\/place\/Lawson+NSW+2783\/@-33.7304237,150.6933201,10z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x6b12651b28d7688f:0x5017d681632d510\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lawson, west of Sydney in New South Wales<\/a> when some sort of problem occurred with the aircraft and the BRS was deployed &#8211; an excellent example of how modern technology can dramatically improve the safety of light aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a link for more information, including a short piece of video: <a title=\"Aircraft saved by parachute\" href=\"http:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/nsw\/plane-parachute-gives-near-disaster-a-soft-landing-20140510-zr8uc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sydney Morning Herald<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A ballistic rescue system (BRS) is an option available on Foxbat aircraft &#8211; about 15 of the Australian fleet of 125 are fitted with them.
